Scope

Pollutant concentration limits for fish feed describes a decision whether a stricter limits should be set for pollutants in fish feed or not.

Definition

Data

The motivation comes from the observation that the consumption recommendations actually do not bring health benefits. Therefore, the risks of pollutants in fish should be regulated another way. One possibility is to regulate the pollutant concentrations in fish feed, as they correlate well with the final concentrations in the fish meal. Two options are assumed for fish feed regulations: 1) business as usual (BAU) with current legislation, and 2) More restrictive regulations for fish feed, resulting in reduction of pollutant levels in feed and consequently in salmon. (This is irrespective of any trends unrelated to the decision).
