Scope

Baseline intake of methyl mercury from fish in Beneris describes the baseline (or background) exposure to methyl mercury (MeHh) due to fish consumption in the Beneris population.

Definition

Baseline exposure to MeHg from fish can be represented as a random variable or as a constant. It is indexed by variable age. It applies to Finnish pregnant women (this represents baseline prenatal exposure to MeHg from fish), to the two last age categories (this represents baseline exposure to MeHg from fish for adults aged 18-55yr and over 55yr) and to indicators such as intelligence quotient (IQ) in children and remaining lifetime risk of death from cardiovascular disease in adults.
